Speaker: Susanne Backer, Project Leader for Circular Economy - Aarhus University Hospital

Susanne Backer is Project Manager for the 'Circular Economy' Project at Aarhus University Hospital in the Central Region of Denmark. Aarhus University Hospital employs approx. 10,000 people and conducted more than 100,000 surgeries in 2015. The Circular Economy Project focuses on how to improve the quality of recycling of plastic packaging from the hospital, through innovation and dialogue with all parties in the value chain. Mrs. Susanne Backer holds a MSC in Modern Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.

Speaker: Simon Aumônier, Partner - Environmental Resources Management

Simon Aumônier has over 28 years of experience in the environmental field and specialises in appraising resource efficiency and sustainability of products. Simon has been supporting the work of the Sustainable Healthcare Coalition for many years and has been a contributing member to many other groups including: the Steering Group for the GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard; the UK Government’s Sustainable Development Commission Panel; the International Solid Waste Association’s (ISWA) Task Group on Greenhouse Gas Emissions; and the International Expert Group for Life Cycle Assessment for Integrated Waste Management (the IEG). He currently leads ERM's product sustainability services practice, providing advice to a wide range of sectors including the healthcare sector.
