Opening keynote: Partnerships and solutions for sustainable healthcare

Hospitals and health centres should be anchors for sustainability and leaders in the global movement for environmental health and justice. Sustainability is not a “fringe” issue for healthcare: it means improving our communities and should, therefore, be part and parcel of the strategic direction of healthcare and integrated into important business initiatives of hospitals.

In 2015 Dr. Thompson received the Practice Green Health Visionary Leader Award after Gundersen achieved energy independence becoming the first net-zero energy health system in the United States.
